A spy in Las Vegas caught up with JOHN RICH (and his wife?) hanging out at a bar at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas having a quite drink and smoke. The two were spotted after 1am the morning of April 2nd. From reports, he made quite an impression on the weekend’s activities at the ACM Awards! We apologize for reporting on him so much, but country music seems to be in such a rut… except for, of course, The Mayor of Country music JAMEY JOHNSON.
If that’s Joan….ugh! She looks like a drunk after hours stripper.
That does not look at all like her!But I guess it would be hard if you hide her in the closet,if you know what I mean.
That sure doesn’t look like any of the photos I’ve seen. If you go to Detroit radio station WYCD’s website and check out the pics from the Ten Man Jam concert, specifically “IMG_0240.JPG” that is John with his wife on his left and Heidi Newfield to his right.
That is not her. Does not mean he was cheating–appears to be having a conversation.
Does anybody know if he does cheat? I had always heard that he had alot of girls, but turns out he has been dating Joan for years. I guess he kept Joan on the side while he had his fun with the other girls.
In the WYCD pic Joan looks a little cross eyed, but not ugly. And she looks a little heavy – maybe she’s pregnant. I expected a prettier girl though, since everyone says she was a model. I guess she was more of a promotions girl than an actual model.
John seems to be ignoring her and just interested in the camera. I’m surprised he let her get in the picture since he wants to keep her hidden.
It could be her, but the heavy makeup and the angle make it hard to tell, even comparing her to other pics. The hair looks right, and the shape of her nose and eyebrows are kind of distinctive especially the left one. But I’m not sure Joan was even in Vegas for the ACM’s.
John looks drunk though, his face is very flushed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was looking for female company if his wife wasn’t there.
I doubt he cheats. Especially being married. When you dating it’s still not right but marriage is nothing to play with. Being an artist myself and dealing with girlfriends, I’m accused all of the time. I’ve done it before, but I have been accused even when I really haven’t. I was at his Party in Vegas and his wife wasn’t there and he was plastered. He had ten girls talking to him and he was very funny with them and I was pretty surprised that he wasn’t really hitting on them. In the picture it looks like she’s leaning away anyway lol
His wife wasn’t in Vegas, or wasn’t in the room?
He wouldn’t ask a girl to hook up in front of people, but you don’t know what happened when everyone else left. If he was comfortable with cheating on his longtime girlfriend then he is probably ok with cheating on her as his wife. And she has let him get away with it all these years.
And honestly, could she stop him? He is the boss of that relationship. She goes where he tells her, and stays home when he wants her to.
Sounds like my kind of girl.

If Joan wasn’t in Vegas, then I have a hard time believing John went without the whole week. He’s never been a faithful boyfriend to her, and ACM week in Vegas would be a perfect chance for him to find easy girls. He would just be discreet about it now that he’s married. Unlike while they were dating when he slept with every girl who was willing and didn’t mind bragging about it.
Now he won’t want the media and fans to call him a philanderer – it would hurt his career.
So does this mean he doesn’t hold kissing contests in bars anymore? Damn
BTW- A man only leaves his brand new bride at home while he goes to Vegas because he wants to have some fun without her. Especially a man like John Rich. Once a cheater, always a cheater. He has a reputation for a reason.
I have followed a band for years and out of the 4 guys in the band, only one brings a girl friend or wife on tour or appearances. The rest come alone, doesn’t they look for girls, this is business, and is usually boring for the women, one wife said been there, seen it. I do not think that is John’s wife, but it does look like he has drinking a bit of the crown.
Yeah well those women are leaving their men alone for weeks at a time on tour, and I think that’s a mistake. A man’s not gonna spend his nights alone when there are girls available and his wife chooses not to be there. John has always had girls after his shows – he chooses to be unfaithful.
And I know touring is difficult for a couple, but you can’t keep a relationship going when you’re apart like that. It’s not like he’s going off to war, this separation is by choice.
And big industry award shows are completely different. Almost everybody brings their spouses, even their kids. John has flat out stated he will never bring his spouse because of HIS privacy, not hers. It’s not her choice. He doesn’t want her to be seen at all. So what is he hiding?
I think he just doesn’t want her to get attention for being his wife – he doesn’t want to be used. A former model who runs a modeling agency could really benefit from being the wife of a huge country star. I bet he has a great prenup.
That’s not his wife but there are a lot of people who work with John so who knows who she is. Maybe it was just a fan and everyone of course assumes the worse. Give the guy a break. I’ve seen pics with him and his wife together and when JR is not performing he has his ring on, there’s photos of that too. Just relax people, there’s no scoop here just a married musician trying to make music.
Oh and if you look at the picture, he’s wearing his wedding ring. I don’t think guys wear their wedding rings when they are trying to pick up girls, that would be pretty stupid and JR is not stupid. Again relax and enjoy his music or change the channel.
She doesn’t look like the kind of girl JR would want to pick up, and she looks bored anyway lol. He must be talking politics again.
JR wears that ring because it’s covered in diamonds, and he takes it off when it is beneficial to his career. He’s a well-known womanizer who kept his girlfriend secret so he COULD pick up other women. Apparently some people have forgotten his awful reputation since the wedding, and actually believe he’ll be faithful to her now when he never was before.
But I agree, he wouldn’t do it with his ring on and in public where people would recognize him. That would hurt his career. He will be discreet now that he’s married, and he’ll continue to get away with it.
From what is whispered around Houston, John and Joan had an open relationship. Allegedly he was her lover while she was engaged to someone else, and John has girlfriends all over the country. If he allowed her to sleep with other men while they were “dating”, he must not be very possesive of her so I can’t imagine why he married her. Their relationship is sordid even by celebrity standards.
Where’ the proof, show me fact and I’ll believe the lies you’re spreading. How hateful people are and just can’t leave two people alone. It’s not anyones business what he does or any one else for that matter with their private lives. AGAIN DON’T POST THIS CRAP UNLESS YOU HAVE PROOF IT’S REAL. In your post you say it’s whispered around Houston they had an open relationship, so. Then allegedly he was her lover and she slept with someone else. I want to know who’s doing the whispering and why aren’t they coming out and telling the story if it’s that damn important to everyone and TRUE??? And think about this, Joe Don from Rascal Flatts married a Playboy bunny and no one cares about that but JR marries someone he’s known for a long time and everyone spreads lies. At least Joan hasn’t posed naked for millions to see and then be paraded around town like she’s a princess like Joe Don’s wife. I personally don’t care about Joe Don or his wife but when I read this crap it makes me mad. GIVE IT UP PEOPLE!!!
Sue….. you must be the only person in the world who thinks JR is misunderstood. He IS NOT the great wonderful guy you think he is. And if you can’t take well-earned criticism about someone whom EVERYONE considers a major ass, then maybe you should go to the CMT board where it is censored.
You call them lies, but I think rumors tell a broader story than the publicists that are paid to paint a pretty picture to avoid scandals. You don’t hear rumors like this about good guys like Brad Paisley, do you? Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
Maybe JR does keep her hidden because she took nude photos while “modeling”, who knows. For some reason he is ashamed of her, or he would proudly show off his new bride like other husbands do. It’s NOT about privacy. He talks about his dad and granny all the time and has had them on Gone Country, so obviously he does involve his family. So why does he hide his wife and avoid being seen with her? Maybe he doesn’t want her to get attention for being with him. A “model” could really benefit from marrying John Rich.
And take a look at her website. Those are beverage servers and promotions girls, not models. And their reputation isn’t nice either. Her reputation is for taking you for a ride, and apparently JR has fallen for it because of his huge ego. I think she’s after his money and patiently waited to catch him. Why else would she put up with all his BS?
You assume his wife is good and a good thing for him. But consider how long they’ve been together, how bad JR has become, and how recently all his problems have happened. She hasn’t done anything to stop him, so I’m inclined to believe she has ulterior motives. That’s what I think after considering his behavior, the way he’s treated her, and the rumors I’ve heard. I can add it all up. Maybe you should open you eyes and see him without your bias towards him.
BTW- If you want “proof” check out nashvillegab.com where you will find legal documents with all the dirt on his bad behavior – including him being with multiple women other than Joan, and bringing girls to his hotel room. It makes the rumors easier to believe.

I agree with Lisa, I’ve heard those rumours and read those reports. I find it odd that JR is sooo shy about Joan. He ain’t shy about anything else. He’s never really been the private type of guy, even the hush hush wedding was weird. Truth is only if you’ve lived in Nashville these past few years you’d know more or less the hype. who your ‘persona’ is and who you really are, well those are two different things. JR in interviews is nice and sweet and SOBER!! But when he’s drunk, well haven’t you seen YouTube…with Jared Ashley. who does that? Plus he’s suing a guy(jared) who has no money for defamation. A guy who has known JR for a long time, who JR helped out to get on Nashville Star…a friend. JOHN is SUING a Friend,,,former friend?? NAhhh, there are tons of stuff said about JR, and alot is not nice. As for Joan, she’s a business woman, first off. She is not stupid. Models are rarely known for being humble and having low self esteem. Do you really think she is all ” oh i better do what my hubby wants or he’ll leave me and I can’t deo better” boo hoo. NOOOOO, hey for all we know he made an arrangement with her. Kids for cash, to get people to stop calling him ‘gay’ or “a whore”. to clean up his image for his cd that was coming out. Maybe his dad was bitching at him to settle down, or he was bored or drunk? Who cares, we should just enjoy the show…its entertaining. I think a big clue is the fact that he DOES include his dad and grandmother on his TV shows. How can he put them on TV and then claim to be private? If he can have them there, then why not his wife? It makes no sense really. He doesn’t want HER on TV. He doesn’t want anyone to know about her for some reason.
It’s not for privacy and it’s not to protect her. Why would people attack her if she really is a nice girl? What is he so afraid of people finding out, that they would attack her for? People don’t attack other wives of country singers – unless they have a reason to – and hiding just makes them look guilty. He wants her to be invisible and silent either because he doesn’t trust her and doesn’t want to be used by her, or because they’re hiding something. There’s no other reasons for him to be so paranoid.
Angel – What do people say about John and Joan in Nashville? Do the locals think it will last? Why do people avoid mentioning all the other women he’s been seen with while they were supposed to be dating? They call him the bad boy of country music because of his partying and womanizing, but they forgot WHY after the wedding?
And it’s kinda weird that people would call him gay and a whore. I’ve never heard anything about him being gay – but always that he was a flagrant womanizer.
I AM A JOHN RICH FAN AND I DON’T BELIEVE YOUR LIES!! Don’t go attacking me because I try to look at the best in someone! I believe that there’s a lot of misinformation going on and I want to know the answer to this question. Why do you care if he’s slept with someone else beside his then girlfriend and now wife? Are you jealous or something? I don’t get it.
Now, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson both married with kids run around and cheat on their wives and everyone loves them. Hell, Jackson’s wife even wrote a book and his affairs and how she stood by her man. Everyone applauds two married men cheating on their wives but a single guy who supposedly slept around makes him awful. I’d rather he slept around before he got married than do it afterwards and he has not done that people. Let’s just give them a chance and see what happens. You all might be pleasantly surprised.
Sue- From my experience and those of people I know, cheaters continue to cheat. If a man is comfortable cheating on his longtime girlfriend then he’ll have that habit engrained in him. He probably won’t have a problem with cheating on her as his wife.
And a man in love with the same woman for years doesn’t cheat on her, unless there’s something reallly wrong. Maybe you think it’s ok, but most people don’t – and they don’t approve of Garth or Alan’s behavior. But those guys aren’t so public with their behavior as John, so people don’t really notice.

I think it’s just as bad to ignore someone’s behavior and be blind to their faults. John is very talented, nobody denies that – but he would have alot more fans if he wasn’t such a hypocrite and have such irrational behavior regarding his wife. Nothing about their situation makes the least bit of sense, and it’s not because he’s a celebrity and is eccentric. It’s just bizarre.
I don’t think that all gossip is made of lies. Often it is based on facts that people just don’t want to acknowledge openly. His bad reputation overshadows his music and causes people to wonder about these things. And it’s a reputation he earned himself over many years, so it’s his own fault if people call him out for it.
Sue, have you posted on other sites as Susie or SusieBNR? If that was also you, then you have previously acknowledged John’s behavior, including his womanizing, and that there’s something really questionable about his relationship with Joan. Why ignore the obvious truth here when you have already admitted it elsewhere? If you’re not the same person, sorry, but if you are I’d like to know why you flip flop so much on this.
Everyone is familiar with John’s womanizing. And yes other stars country or not have been unfaithful, (male and female alike). It doesn’t bother me that he was a player, He is a good looking man, with cash, and talent. What bothers me is the fact that he makes it seem like he was SOOO loyal those 8 years with Joan. If he came out and said they dated on and off, or it was an open relationship.. then okay no commitment. But he’s soo persistent on secretcy when he has never been shy before. Why soo shy now, why with her? There are pics of JR kissing a woman’s foot on YouTube, tounging a reporter on Google video, and now this pic here. If he really was sooo shy none of this would be, Garth supposedly fooled around with Trisha when he was still married but there was no pics or videos or nothing…just whispers. Whispers thAT turned out to be true. Same with Leeann RImes,, little whispers and video proof. How are we to ignore JR and all the “whispers” around him and his wife. Truth is for every rumour there is some truth. Only time will tell. I for one love JR, but his behaviour is less than tolerable. I don’t get why Joan hasn’t helped him with his problems. I would be worried if my husband was an alcoholic womanizing possible drug user that has a violent temper. What if he beats her one of these days in a drunken rage? or worse kills her? Or kills someone out there on the street? Where the hell are all these people that see him and ignore this behavior? Does money really buy him out of a lot of trouble? JR said in a recent interview if his guitar could talk he’d probably be in jail, whether he was joking, that still is a disturbing comment. Oh well, que sera…sera
JR is all about appearances. That’s why when he was unmarried, he was the player who could have a different woman with him every night. That’s what was expected of him, and he didn’t disappoint or show restraint regardless of his secret girlfriend. Now that he’s married…. he’s married, and of course he’s always been a good boy!
It doesn’t look good to admit to having an open relationship or like he wasn’t always planning to marry her, because people would doubt his commitment to her – and that’s not a perfect marriage to him…. But he doesn’t have to admit it because we all know it from watching him these past 8 years. He can dress it up however he wants, but he’s not fooling anyone but Joan and Sue.
Just look at the wedding he had. Dad was the preacher – it was held at “the mother church of country music”, because where else would a country music star get married? – reception at Fontanel (another music connection) – and 4 days later he was playing concerts in Vegas. It’s all about his image and his career. He’s playing a part.
The past might as well be forgotten because it doesn’t fit the image he wants now. He used to brag in interviews about all the girls he had on call, but now he only talks about drinking and partying. He is very talented at playing the role of his choice. That’s why he can be an obnoxious arrogant ass at bars, and be a sweet charming guy in interviews. He becomes whoever will most benefit him at any given moment. That’s probably why he is such a great songwriter.
Whatever else JR might be, he is very smart and adaptable. He will play the husband role for as long as it suits him, or until someone else catches his eye.
I just wonder what ever happened to being innocent until proven guilty! And I still don’t see any proof he’s guilty so I guess you would have to call this a hung jury if we can’t agree!
How about all the women he had while he was secretly dating Joan??? Those girls were NOT a secret. He flaunted them. Everyone called him a womanizer. (Even you knew of his reputation if you had heard of him in the last few years – and you would have said he was single and a ladies man.)
That is exactly why he kept Joan a secret!! So he could sleep around without being called a cheater. Do you really believe the womanizer reputation he always bragged about was a lie?? He bragged about it Sue!!What more do you want – pictures, a signed confession? You’re obviously in denial.
What is so hard to understand? A year ago, you could have asked anyone and they would have told you that John had a different girl with him every night. And that he had kissing contests in bars, and went around soliciting women to join him on his bus. He picked up girls all the time. That means he cheated on her. That is the definition of cheating, and it’s a hard habit to break when it has taken place for so many years. A man in love doesn’t do that. That’s just my honest opinion, and I think it’s really sad for both of them, but I won’t ignore it like you are doing.
And please don’t say they must have been on a break, or were off and on. This went on for the 8 years they dated and before – were they always on a break?? He found other girls to replace her as soon as she wasn’t around. If you look back at his history and reputation in Nashville, you will see that there was never a time that he restrained himself from other women or was “off the market”.
Maybe he has been faithful since the wedding, but there’s no doubt he wasn’t before. His past actions prove he’s guilty. And like I said – that is not the behavior of a man in love, and it’s a hard habit to break.
Too bad womanizing isn’t his only problem. He’s just about done in country music, and he’ll be lucky not to lose everything and do time in jail.
