Late Tuesday night (1/6/09) surprised honky tonkers were treated to the Mayor of Country Music, JAMEY JOHNSON, showing up at Legends Corner live music honky tonk. Eventually the Mayor was persuaded to sing a few of his songs and covers. The Mayor is nominated for three Grammy awards. In this amateur clip from a spy, the Mayor sings KEITH WHITLEY’s country classic “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”

This video of JAMEY “The Mayor of Country Music” JOHNSON was taken March 18, 2008 by a spy at a St. Judes Chirdren’s Reachsearch Hospital funraiser held at the Tin Roof in Nashville. While the video quality is certainly inferior, we were assured that as usual, The Mayor easily managed to make this striped down acoustic performance sound like a million bucks. Towards the send of his set she shared the stage with his daughter KYLEE. Even JOHNSON’s former wife was there to lend her support to the effort.
