This is a story I didn’t want to write because I am actually writing about JESSICA SIMPSON on a country music web site.My country music sensibilities still can’t bring myself to fully comprehend that JESSICA and her record label are attempting a move her into country music.I feel like I am being forced into writing this story because some of our readers were insisting to know why I wasn’t reporting that JESSICA was booed for her performance at Country Thunder over the weekend (CLICK HERE to read what the local paper reported).Come on every one, please tell me you aren’t surprised.
This is a prime example of the big record companies, Columbia Nashville/SonyBMG in JESSICA’s case, are trying to shove their misjudgments of what country music is down our throats.Don’t hate on JESSICA, it’s the fucked up system that is the blame. I feel sorry for her. How is it that they (SonyBMG and her management) thought they would put her in some daisy dukes, boots, show-off her big boobs and show up at a premier country music festival in a prime time lineup and that would magically make her country?Country music would have been much better served by SonyBMG taking the outrageous budget/advances JESSICA surely demands, and develop and release 10 new real country music artists.No wonder people don’t like to pay for records.FUBAR.
Our spies found JOHN RICH out honky-tonkin’ last night at Robert’s Western World (see photo above) and other honky tonks.There is nothing unusual about that.However, as of late, his arrogance seems to be at an all time high.Perhaps, he needs to stay home a few nights and get his bearings back.
Off-Air Arrogance:Last night we found JOHN with an entourage of Nashville-Star-sorts and hanger-on’s bar hopping on Broadway Ave. in Nashville.On at least two occasions last night, he was run out of tonks for trying to get an underage girl into the bars…. well after the mid-night hour.He also disrespectfully chooses to smoke cigars whenever he wants… even in non smoking tonks.We have seen him do this on many occasions.I guess he must think such “ordinary people” rules don’t apply to him.
On-Air Arrogance:As a judge he has to be critical.However he often comes across as being arrogant and condescending.For example, I was taken aback a few weeks ago on Nashville Star when he accused contestant COFFEY ANDERSON of not being “country enough” and that COFFEY’s cowboy hat doesn’t make him country.Then more shockingly he told the true Texas and small town country contestant that there was a show for pop singers called “American Idol”.What the fuck is he talking about??? Is he saying that American Idol stars CARRIE UNDERWOOD and KELLIE PICKLER are pop artists and not country artists? I was glad to see COFFEY not take JOHN’s shit and stood up for his “country credentials.”Maybe JOHN just has a guilty conscience.
The Country Music Association and ABC Television Network announced today that “The 42nd Annual CMA Awards” will air live on Wednesday, Nov. 12 the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tenn. The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000 industry professional members of CMA. The organization, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year., was the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958.
The special will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
Check out SUGARLANDS’s newest music video “All I Want To Do”. SUGARLAND will be releasing their follow up album later this month. First, on 7/22 they will release a 17 song “Deluxe Fan Edition” and then later on 7/29 they will release the “poor white trash edition” with just 12 songs. While we are making fun of them, we applaud their label and them for some creative marketing innovation. We can’t help but to like them and their perfect summer country song/video “All I Want To Do”.
This video and song are so terrible it made our eyes and ears bleed. Admittedly she is hot to look at, but there has been some sort of terrible misjudgment on her part. If anyone goes out and buys this one, that is proof we are not in a recession. Yikes.
Anyone who reads our site knows we have lost all objectivity when it comes to reporting on JAMEY JOHNSON. In our very first story, we pronounced him “The Mayor of Country Music”. Check out JAMEY’s video for “In Color” and you will know why he is the shit! All to often we hear that there are no “real” or “traditional” country music artists out there.
A hacker website is claiming to have hacked into MILEY CYRUS’ cellphone any took the above photos from MILEY. If true, she would would be 15 years old in these pictures. If true, clearly her parents need to have a “sit down” talk with her about the definition of SKANK. I am sure Disney is going to have a royal fit when they see these. MILEY’s people say these aren’t “real photos”… but they seem real to us.
Our spies found a Nashville country music favorite TIM MONTANA and late night TV host DAVID LETTERMAN at TIM’s show over the 4th of July weekend in Choteau, Montana (we have spies everywhere) . TIM is known and liked in Nashville for his rugged hard drivin’ "motorcycle country" sound.
In what must have been an awkward exchange, DAVID asked for TIM’s autograph and of course TIM asked for DAVID’s. Our spies report that DAVID bought several merchandise items from TIM. DAVID was particularly smitten with the Carhartt bandannas that TIM gives away through his partnership with Carhartt. We guess David must be doing some work out at his ranch. (For you city folk, Carhartt is a clothing company that specializes in rugged clothing for blue-collar-type workers)
Everyone we spoke with said DAVID is very well regarded and respected in the Choteau community and is particularly noted for his extreme generosity and involvement in community projects.

This past Sunday (July 6th) RINGO STARR, from the BEATLES, performed at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Our spies caught people lining up outside the Wildhorse around noon and by six that evening people were lined up all along Second Avenue! There were hippies to business people, to families and even children waiting in line for this event. I guess even solo RINGO is still considered a national icon and by the looks of things….NASHVILLE LOVED RINGO STARR!!
STEVE HOLY was out doing a little pre-Independence Day celebrating at the STAGE on Broadway this past Thursday! STEVE was invited on stage by his BRAND NEW MAN-FRIEND where he did two of his one hit wonder songs, “Good Morning Beautiful” and “Got a Brand New Girlfriend”. As you can tell from this picture STEVE was all about having a good time…I can’t tell if he’s just really drunk or if he’s about to hit a climax or about to have a seizure? All three speculations are up in the air! The crowd seemed to love him and the fact that he was prancing around on stage.
